The Hound of the Baskervilles comes to the Queens Theatre Hornchurch in September. A gripping tale of detectives, doctors, inbred aristocrats and cocker spaniels. My favourite bit is where the villain gets sucked down into the Great Grimpen Mire and I am looking forward to that being recreated faithfully on stage.
Whilst researching – if looking at Wikipedia counts as research – this post, I found that there have been 27 Hound of the Baskervills films made starting with Der Hund von Baskervil starring Alwyn Neuss as Holmes in 1914 – Ah I remember it like it was yesterday.
I think my favourite Holmes was Peter Cook but the performances I remember most are Jeremy Brett and Basil Rathbone. I havnt warmed to Benedict Cumberbach as the current incarnation – fine actor though he is.
Here is the website. It starts at the end of October. The Hound of the Baskervilles | Queens Theatre Hornchurch.
